This project reconstructed all of the main hospital functions at the six building MLK Campus, including 2 buildings from the ground up. Our work included a new chiller plant, new boiler plant, new main 4160V service and (3) 2500KW generators as well as 220 beds, 4 operating rooms and all of the associated support facilities. Retrofitting the existing structures made this project a challenge as often existing utilities or structures were not installed where they were most needed. Design solutions were implemented on the fly in partnership with the construction team. The MLK Ancillary building was recently selected to receive the 2015 Sustainable Innovation Award from the US Green Building Council and achieved LEED Gold status. The project was selected as a location on the USGBC 2016 Greenbuild Tour.
